How we bill

The management fee is the smallest number on your invoice

A low fee is easy to advertise. What matters is what happens on every other line. At MJM, every vendor invoice reaches you at actual cost, with the paperwork attached.

Where markups hide

Four places a low fee gets paid back

None of these show up as a management fee. Ask any manager about each one.

Fuel

What can happen
The manager buys at a contract price and bills you more per gallon.
At MJM
You pay the contract price, and the supplier invoice is attached.

Maintenance and parts

What can happen
A handling percentage is added to labor or parts.
At MJM
You pay the amount on the shop's invoice.

Rebilled items

What can happen
Hangar, catering, subscriptions and crew travel come back at more than they cost.
At MJM
Each one is billed at cost, with its receipt.

Rebates and commissions

What can happen
A vendor pays the manager for sending your business its way.
At MJM
We take nothing from vendors.

The fee

One management fee, on its own line

Our management fee is set in your agreement and shows on every statement as its own line. It pays for our work managing your aircraft.

What the aircraft uses, from fuel and parts to hangar and catering, is billed to you at cost. We take no rebates or commissions from vendors. Any other work you ask us for, such as buying or selling an aircraft, is agreed with you in writing before we start.

Before you sign

Six questions to ask any aircraft manager

Ask every manager you talk to, and ask to see the paperwork. Our answers are under each question.

  1. What is the actual contract price for fuel, and will you show me the supplier invoice?

    MJM

Yes. The supplier invoice comes with your statement, and the price on it is the price you pay.

  2. Do you add a markup or handling percentage to maintenance or parts?

    MJM

No. Labor and parts reach you at the amount on the shop's invoice.

  3. Will I get the original vendor invoices?

    MJM

Yes. Every line on your statement has its original invoice attached.

  4. Who reviews maintenance invoices line by line?

    MJM

We do, before an invoice reaches you. If a line looks wrong, we take it up with the shop.

  5. Do you receive commissions or rebates from vendors?

    MJM

No. We take nothing from vendors, so nothing on your statement is there for our benefit.

  6. If your fee is below market, how do you make money?

    MJM

Every manager should be able to answer this one plainly. At MJM the management fee is written into your agreement and shows on every statement as its own line. Vendor bills reach you at cost.
